Lung cancer can be treated if detected early

The statistics of late 2022 show that more than 40 Thai people die from lung cancer daily, this is concerning number. Young people can also get lung cancer so don’t be careless and take care of your health to get away from lung cancer. 

Risk factor of getting lung

1.Cigarette is many toxic substances that cause lung cancer, especially nicotine. These toxins will circulate directly into the lung. In addition to smokers, those exposed to cigarette smoke are equally at risk.

2.Vape has fewer toxins than cigarettes but it still has nicotine and nitrosamine that are the cause of lung cancer. 

3.Exposure to the asbestos in the factory. 

4.PM 2.5 dust that accumulated inside of the lung. 

5.Other factors such as aging and genetics.

Symptoms of lung cancer

The first phase oftenly has no symptoms

During the spread of the disease, symptoms include chronic cough, difficulty breathing, pain or tightness in the chest, hoarseness, tiredness, loss of appetite, and unexplained weight loss.

Diagnosing lung cancer, divided into 2 groups : Visible and suspicious group and no symptom group, by Low Dose CT Scanning that will get a 3d image of the lung that can detect the cancer at the beginning phase. It has more resolution and is clearer than normal lung scanning.

Type and phase of lung cancer

There are two types, which are small cell carcinoma and non-small cell carcinoma.

Small cell carcinoma has 2 phases

·      1st phase

- the disease is not spread, cancer cells are detected in 1 side of the lung or nearby organs.

·      2nd phase

- the disease begins to spread to other organs in the   body Non

-small cell carcinoma has 4 phases

o  1st phase - Cancer cells are smaller than 5 cm in size.

o  2nd phase - It begins to spread to the lung, it m ight be larger than 5 cm in size.

o  3rd phase - Cancer begins to spread to other organs. 

o  4th phase - It spreads further to other parts such as bone, liver and brain.

Lung cancer treatment

It depends on the phase and type of disease. Generally, it has 3 methods

1. Surgery is being used in the first phase in which cancer cells are not spread widely.

2. Chemical therapy to eradicate the cancer cell.

3. Radiotherapy is using beams of intense energy aimed at the position of cancer cells. It is used in regional cancer and not appropriate for patients with cancer cells spread to other parts of the body.

If the cancer cell is detected early, there's a high chance of it being eradicated. So you should pay attention to your health and start to screen the disease so it can be treated timely
