Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Closer Than You Think
It is one of the most common respiratory disease in nowaday and it is also the 3rd highest cause of death in the world. Both chronic bronchitis and emphysema are also categorized as a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
The main factor is from a long time period of smoking and living in a polluted environment with dust and smoke in the air. When the lung absorbs the toxin, it will cause malfunctional of the lung, bronchitis and it may spread to the air sac or may cause insufficient Alpha -1 Antitrypsin that accelerates the cause of Emphysema .
Symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
-Difficulty in breathing
-Tightness at the chest
-Easily tired
-May have a phlegm that is at risk of infection
Method of diagnosing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
1.taking history
2.laboratory examination
Screen the lung by using a Spirometry method to specify the severity and evaluate the symptoms.
3.Chest X-ray :CXR
It is screened with X-ray for diagnosing complications.
4.CT Scan
For monitor spreading of emphysema.
Treatment for Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can’t be fully eradicated, it has only prevention of complications and reducing the risk that symptoms get severe.
1.Taking medicine under doctor’s instruction strictly.
2.No smoking
3.Doing exercise
4.If the acute symptoms occurred, use a bronchodilator inhaler to cure the symptoms. This treatment method has to be advised by a doctor.
5.Treating by surgery, it depends on severity of the disease.
