Get to know "Cancer", the danger that is the leading cause of death.

cancer is the 1st highest cause of death in the world with over 10 millions deaths per year. More than half of these numbers are between 30-69 years old. This reflects the tendency of getting diseases that increased in the working age. Due to the changed way of life from the past. In Thailand, cancer is also the highest cause of death for many decades. According to the data, it found that there are on average around 120000 new cases yearly. There are liver and bile duct cancer , lung cancer, colon cancer , Prostate cancer and lymphoma cancer that are mostly found in men and 5 most common cancers in Thai women are breast cancer, cervical cancer. Liver and bile duct cancer,lung cancer , and colon cancer, etc.

Cause of cancer

External factor is the main cause of cancer with 90% rate and the rest 10% is internal factor such as genetics , from behavior or external factor such as

1.   Eating fried, grilled meat, fatty food or processed food

2.   Smoking or drinking alcohol

3.   Stress

4.   Being exposed to radiation

5.   Infection from virus, bacteria or parasite

6.   Malfunction of immunity

7.   Obesity and no exercise

8.   Not eating vegetable and fruit 

Some cancers do not show the symptoms, also, the disease begins to develop inside of the body. So, the best way is to have Screening for cancer , that is screening in the early stage where these diseases can be treated. Nowaday, screening still has high efficiency.

Today, cancer can be treated promptly if being screened and detected in an early phase. Therefore, we would encourage everyone to be concerned about screening for disease, especially annual health checking .

For men, if there's a habit of smoking or previously smoking for an average period of over 20 years and more than 1 pack daily, they should get screened rather than chest X-ray. 

For women, if they are over 40 years old, in addition to regular breast cancer self-screening, they should have screening by doctor and mammography by breast scanner for every 1-2 years. It might use ultra sounding to enhance the efficiency of screening. 

Both men and women over 50 years old have the higher risk of getting colon cancer. If they have a family member that has a history of getting colon cancer, it is recommended to seek consulting and screening for cancer. Early screening can decrease the rate of death from colon cancer.

For lymphoma cancer, caused by infection by liver flukes, so it is preventable and curable cancer, If it is diagnosed in early stage that patient has no symptoms. The study shows that the risk group of lymphoma cancer is those over 40 years old, oftenly from the northeastern region of Thailand that generally eat raw or not fully cooked freshwater fish or those who have a history of being infected by liver flukes. If being screened by ultrasound at the liver and detecting the lesion, especially the tissue around lymph. This group is being called a highly risked group. Doctors and patients should be concerned and monitor these groups by ultrasounding for every 6 months, which results in the chance of cancer detection in the early stage. Early lymphoma cancer treatment can be eradicated up to 90%. As same as Chronic hepatitis B and c patients, They are also should getting screened and monitored for liver cancer due to above virus is 90% cause of the liver cancer
